Several key players in the online casinos gambling industry are currently focusing their attention on Pennsylvania in anticipation of hearings that will settle crucial issues on the future of slot parlors in the state. A record 61,000 slot machines will be required in casino gambling establishments throughout Pennsylvania, making the state the first this decade to encourage such commercial gambling ventures in a casino.

While table games will still be banned, casino fans will be able to enjoy slot machines at several proposed locations. Among the gambling firms vying to set up shop in Pennsylvania are Trump Entertainment Resorts, Las Vegas Sands, and the world's largest gaming business, Harrah's Entertainment. Two Native American tribes that operate gambling establishments in Connecticut are also in the running to receive Pennsylvanian licenses.

State gambling regulators will begin public hearings to discuss proposals for casino-style slots on April 10. Over fourteen venues are proposed, including racetracks, with the aim of making Pennsylvania one of the biggest slot machine states in the country. Gambling firms that are approved by the state will have to adhere to strict regulations, including the payment of 52 percent taxation. The state has estimated the industry could generate revenue of $3 billion from casino-style gambling including slots annually.
